Last Day For Blog : MS Word

Today's Topic: The Final Project

Today we learned about our project in class we have to make a cover sheet, database in excel, merge a letter using the information in the database,make mailing labels, a  information form, a report that is 4 pages, and a PowerPoint presentation.

What I Learned New In Class:  We talked about Publisher

Publisher is designed for making banners, signs, business card and its really good for news letters
With Publisher it does everything for you you just have to change the words and the pictures to the right theme.

A New Tab I Learned Today:
  • Pull quote- its for pulling out something that you think is IMPORTANT to the reader you go to the Insert tab and click where it says TEXT BOXS then chose which one you want.
  • Drop Cap- for making the first letter drop like at the begaining of a news letter this is also under the Insert tab

Day 6 MS Word Class- Working In Excel and Making a Infromation Form

Today's Class Topics:
How to make two diffrent forms in MS Word using a table or Specail Tabs
Using diffrent templetes that Word has Ex. Cards, Fax Cover Sheets, Calendars, and Resumes

New Things I Learned Today:
  • I learned how to make a Infromation Form Sheet in MS Word using a table.
  • I had my memory refreshed when it came to headers for a MLA format with the last name space and page number *DON'T TYPE IN THE NUMBER* use page number
  • Also with the Work Cited put periods at the end because they are like sentinces
  • I learned that Excel is not as hard as I thought it was
New MS Word Ribbon Item:
Under the tab INSERT go to TABLE and go to where it says CONVERT TEXT TO TABLE and you can take your text and make it into a table.

Day 5 In MS Word- Learned How To Make Letterheads Using Sumo

Today's Class Topics:
How to write a Business letter
How to make a Letterhead using Sumo for a Business letter

New Keyboarding Shortcuts
  • Fl= Help
  • SHIFT F3= Changes case
  • CTRL D= Design *The Font Dialog Box*
New Things I Learned Today:

I learned that you can change the color of a table to any color that you wish to have in MS Word. I also learned how to make letterheads using Sumo Paints. Also that the size of a letterhead is 800 X 100.


New MS Word Ribbon Item: Is how to make Envelope's and Labels To make a envelope or labels go to the MAILING TAB and click on the button that says ENVELOPES type in the address that you want then put the envelope in the printer the right way and print same with making LABELS

Day 4 In MS Word -Working On The MLA Format

Today's Topic:
Formatting MLA papers

New Keyboard Shortcuts:
  • CTRL G= Find and Replace/ GO TO
  • CTRL F= Navigation
  • CTRL  and Enter Key = Makes a new page (Page Break)
  • CTRL and End Key= Goes to the very last page
  • In Word if you click and hold down CTRL and click Follow Link takes you to the information you are wanting to read
New Things I Learned In Class Today:
  • In a MLA paper there is not Footer.
  • There is 3 parts on a Header The Persons last name a space and the page number and it must be Right Justified Times New Roman 12.
  • To delete a Footnote NEVER delete the note ALWAYS delete the tiny number
  • In Work Cited the MAJOR title in the MLA format is in ITALICS and the MINOR titles are in quotetation marks
The New Ribbon Item:
Under the REFERECE tab click on the Table of Contents and it can do it Automatic so we don't have to make the Table of Contents by hand.

Day 3 In MS Word - Learning More About PowerPoint And MLA Papers

Today's Class Topic:
 We talked about PowerPoint how to add graphics, animations and how to change the font on the PowerPoint so the audience can read the words. We also went over a little on MLA papers and there formatting.

Keyboard short cuts:
  • F7= The Spell Check 
  •  Shift and F7 = The Thesaurus
  • F5= Starting the PowerPoint Slides
  • CTRL M= Creates a New Slide
A Couple of New Things I learned in Class Today was:
  • If you click on the tab called OUTLINE in PowerPoint and you select all the text then press CTRL space bar that removes the blue text formatting
  • Instead of formatting every slide you can go to the tab called Slide Master format however you want and all the slides are formatted how you want so it saves time.
  • In Word you can flip a picture so that the item is facing the words. 
  • Also in Word you can change the color of your paper.
MS Word Ribbon Item:
Go to Page Layout and click on Page Color and you can choose whatever color you want but if you don't have a color printed the page when printed will still be white.

Day 2 In MS Word - Class Sumo

Today's Topic:
All the different things that we could do with Sumo.

Some new things that I learned in class today was:
  1. That Sumo is like Photoshop but its free
  2. That with the curve tool in Sumo you can make pictures that are dark lighter without using the the brightness and contrast
  3. That it is not really called black and white it is grayscale in the art world
  4. That a letterhead is 800 X 100 pixels and that a powerpoint is 800 X 600 pixels
  5. That in Sumo we can make our own background for powerpoint
  6. Sumo is a cloud program
One of the new keyboard shortcuts that I learned today was CTRL W- it closes out the paper without closing out Word all together.

1 st Day Of Class MS Word- Going Over The Syllabus

Some of the Keyboard shortcuts I learned today:
  • CTRL spacebar- return to unformatted text
  • CTRL N- create new file
  • Window E- Microsoft Explorer
  • CTRL E- Center Justify
What I learned new today:
  1. 72 point for a inch in the font
  2.  There is away to try and keep the 10 inch font out of your documents.
  3.  Learned that the number that are set in the font box or what the computer sees as the main font
  4. Not all font have the same sizes
